Thanks for Asking the Climate Question

Thank you to everyone who wrote letters, attended events, sent emails, handed out flyers and asked the climate question in your area in the run up to the General Election 2010.

Together we made a difference. Election events across Scotland were packed out, hundreds of emails were sent to candidates challenging them on climate change policy, thousands of households were able to “do the doorstep challenge” using our leaflet, and our “rapid response action team” sent letters to their paper to spread the word even further.

All this left parliamentary candidates in no doubt that climate change is an important issue for the people in the constituencies they were standing to be an MP in.

Where next? Ask the Climate Question was a UK-wide campaign being led in Scotland by Christian Aid, Friends of the Earth Scotland, Oxfam, RSPB Scotland, World Development Movement and WWF, with support from the Green Alliance and Stop Climate Chaos Scotland. We learnt loads from this campaign and from all our supporters who took part – thank you.

The campaign goes on. We will continue to lobby our newly elected MPs as well as MSPs and the Scottish Government on climate change issues, and of course we will work together again in 2011 to make sure climate change remains on the agenda during the Scottish Parliamentary elections. Email us today if you would like to be involved in our campaign work.
